The i30 Blue will feature emission-reducing upgrades that later models wearing the Blue badge will benefit from as well. These include aerodynamic improvements, the ISG (Idle Stop&Go) system, and low rolling-resistance tires. The ISG system, manufactured by Bosch, uses an advanced starter motor connected to the ECU, which monitors the car's status at all times and automatically switches the engine off (when stationary) and on. Consequently, the fuel consumption is reduced up to 15 percent in city driving and 7 percent in mixed driving cycle. CO2 emissions are also lowered to 142 g/km, which contrast the conventional i30 1.6 petrol's emissions of 152 g/km.
The i30 Blue will reach European showrooms by this summer. It will be available in either the hatchback or Cross Wagon, and either a 1.4L or a 1.6L gasoline engine. Hyundai aims to release more Blue variants of its current line-up in the future.
