Before getting slapped... I guess if youre a billionaire you can shove earbuds into a strangers ear, but here in Real World USA the results would not be pretty. Do that with your girlfriend, I dont think ANYONE would want a stranger theyve known for 1 minute coming up to them and putting crap into their ear.
If you're unable to walk up to a girl and ask her if she wants to listen to a cool song, but more than ready to semi-anonymously ask the same thing by connecting to her music player ... well, I guess the Zune might have a market with the socially inept looking for others who are socially inept.
But, in my opinion, if I were to ask someone to listen to a cool song, I'd want to strike up a conversation first, maybe introduce the song, etc. Sending a message like "Someone wants you to listen to something. Accept?" just soounds creepy.
And, no, if asked to listen to something by someone unwilling to identify themselves, my answer would be "no", period. That kind of person is too likely to send me heavy breathing or a breathless rant on global consumerism spliced into the middle of a Britney Spears track (the rant might be okay by itself, but ...)
So, no, I see no advantage in that scenario at all.

I was really thinking about an iMac, but I'm considering a Sony Vaio laptop with an IPS monitor from a 3rd party. I'll definitely wait to see what Apple comes out with this week, though.

Really? I have Windows 7 on desktop and find it to be the same crap as Vista but with a new theme pack. Other than the slightly different appearance it seams essentially exactly the same (ie the worst Windows since M.E.).

As for your trip, you don't need to rig anythig up. I have a Belkin SportCommand (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/belkin-sportcommand-fabric-remote-for-ipod/) that works great on the bike. I just strap it to my left thigh and have full control over the iPod stuffed in a bag. Just drop your hand down to the control and you don't even have to take your eyes off the road.
See, I think that's unnecessarily complicated. I only need one button to handle play, pause, next and previous with a rocker for volume and this doesn't necessarily have to be separated.
I'm not sure how I want to do the GPS and if the iPhone will be a part of my panel or if I'm just going to use BMW's unit. I ended up doing some pretty neat things with my iPhone in Burma, Cambodia and Uganda so I'm leaning towards use the iPhone as the primary. Anyway, how I set up my gear will affect how I set up my control scheme. I don't know yet, but I'm going to experiment with it over the next year.

I'm giving myself a year. Want to learn some Spanish. :)
I had this planned out a year or two ago but the guy I was going to ride with changed his mind and decided to do it by bicycle instead and I ended up getting suckered into another series of assignments on the ass end of the planet.
Rain or shine, starting in the summer of 2012. Gotta start before the end of the world. :)

An "Image Sensor" is not a camera. The sensor is part of a camera. In addition to a sensor one needs to add at least a lens, some buffer memory and a controller. Sony makes image sensors for many, other camera makers.
8MP is way to many pixels for a cell phone camera. The only reason to have so many is for marketing purposes because consumers seem to think (wrongly) that more is better. What really limits sharpness of a cell phone camera is the physical size of the lens. If the lens projects a blurred image onto the focal plane the best sensors will simply make a very good recording of the blurred image.

Maybe they won't be 100% compliant, but unless something earth shattering happens before 802.11n is finalized, I'd expect that many draft-n products could be made compatible with equipment using the the final standard, with little more than a firmware change.
And wasn't 802.11g still in the draft stage when it was introduced in the AirPort Extreme? (Extreme was introduced on January 7, but 802.11g was not ratified until June 2003.)
That is something I've been wondering - what is the approval process like for these standards? Specifically, why does this take so long for approval?
I think its great that Apple is putting the pre-N capable hardware in to the iMac's, MP and MBP already just awaiting a pre-N capable base station to make it fly. Oooh - maybe they will intro this in November to have a sale on one for Black Friday? Steve, how about it?

Reception to the original iPod launch was mixed. Our own forum responses (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=500) are interesting to look back on, 10 years later.

Actually I have at work. He's a rich kid who owns an iPod as well, but decided to get a Zune because he was "curious." It was a brown one, and (what a surprise) wasn't even being used. It gets more use as a paperweight.
