How long has the shipping wait been 3-5 days on the Black MacBooks on the Australian store? Every time I have looked they've all been "within 24hrs"?
Only a few days I think. I've been watching it for a while.
The same guy I was talking too (at NextByte) told me that they had no Macbook deliveries for over a week, which they had never seen.
He also told me he'd heard that there will be a 15 inch MacBook Pro!!!
He's been working there for a while. Actually spent time talking me out of buying a MacBook the other day?!

For now it's unlimited, who said it will last?
ATT fanboys always say "For now it's unlimited" as if VZW will really get rid o f unlimited since ATT + T-Mobile announced the merger.
ATT Fanboys are really hoping for VZW to end unlimited.
VZW is going to be the biggest phone company anymore, I bet they don't get rid of unlimited data for a long time. VZW needs to stay competitive as they are not going to be the biggest company anymore....................
Lol, I'm pretty sure they said they are going to caps, jut cause you don't like it dont blame form members.

If a country's regime committing human rights abuses was really the USA's reasoning behind intervention we would have invaded Saudi Arabia, Israel, etc. Simply put, the USA cares if and only if there is some vital interest to be obtained. I haven't quite figured out the strategic importance of Libya to be honest. Who knows, maybe it'll be just like how massive lithium reserves were (re)"discovered" in Afghanistan after we invaded (they have been known about for almost a century, but it seems to have escaped the history books somehow).
Well, Libya does have oil. Maybe once we help the al-Qaeda-allied rebels (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8407047/Libyan-rebel-commander-admits-his-fighters-have-al-Qaeda-links.html) get rid of Gadaffi, they'll sell us some.

Apple should bundle the ClickToFlash plug-in into Mobile Safari. It prevents flash from running unless you really want it to run. This should address, in part, Apple's stated reason for not allowing flash (battery drain and stability) as the user would only enable it for those parts of the web that they really want to see.
And, while they are at it, they should enable file uploads in Mobile Safari to upload photos and videos.
I hate only being able to use part of the internet on my iPhone when there is no technical reason I shouldn't be able to do both Flash on demand and file uploads.
Give this man/woman/fish (*delete as applicable*) a prize. In a nutshell, this is precisely why Adobe Flash isn't available on the iPhone - Adobe have never been able to make it work under OS X. I have a 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro and Flash consumes approximately 120% processor time just to playback a low-resolution YouTube video. Under no circumstances would I want to bring code that requires so much resources to do so little to a mobile device. Can you imagine what this would do to your browsing experience and battery life?
I have a lot against Adobe Flash but it is a fact of life and therefore I would like access to Flash content on the iPhone but it has to be done in a way that is appropriate and, right now, I have absolutely no faith that Adobe has a solution that wouldn't destroy the user experience.

No Sunday iPad2's in any of my area BestBuy stores. Told they did not arrive, put in a reservation in case they show up in the next day or two. Otherwise I have to wait for my May 5th shipping date from Apple.

Apple is at the core a software company.
I'm not sure many would agree with you on that. Apple has always been a hardware company. Just because their software drives their hardware doesn't mean they are software focused. If they were primarily a software company, they would have gone the way of Microsoft and put out MacOS to run on any generic PC box. But we all know their take on that. Just to drive my point home, when was the last time Apple released a piece of software that people went nuts about and stood in lines for hours to get?

Anybody got a alternative method for reaching CorvusCamenarum, such as email, text, etc.? I don't want it, and I'm not asking that it get posted, but if someone has a method for checking if he's ok, I hope you will. Not to be dramatic, but parts of Tuscaloosa were obliterated yesterday around the time of his "last activity" time of 5:00 p.m. Thanks.

Quite obviously you are not the target audience in your Ford Escape.
The original conversation was in reference to someone who drove a V10 Excursion. A vehicle that weighs 8,000lbs.
The Excursion hasn't been in production for a few years. Of course the Expedition and Suburban are still around, but there are actually people who need those types of vehicles. I am a single person so an Escape is all the SUV I need, but if I was married and had 4 or 5 kids then an Expedition, Sequoia, Tahoe or Suburban might make sense. My point was let people buy what they want to buy according to their needs. I would feel silly in a full-sized SUV by myself, but if I had a large family or needed the hauling capacity it would make sense. I don't see a lot of single people without families driving around in Excursions, Expeditions or Suburbans. In fact, out of all the people I know I can't say I know one who has one of those vehicles and doesn't have a family. Now I know a few single people with F-150's, but then again this is South Dakota and people love their pickups.
I'm not even sure how the whole SUV driver thing in relation to where people shop got started. I am sure you there are plenty of very affluent people driving Escalades, Navigators, and Lexus full sized SUV's down to their local Apple store to buy an iPad so what does it matter?

Interesting discussion.
It seems that many people pirate Adobe products because they want to learn the tools, but don't have a job to pay for it's high prices. Those who are anti-piracy seem to argue that if you have the tools and the know-how than you can easily make enough money to pay for the price.
Do those in the anti-piracy camp have major issues with someone who pirates Adobe products, but doesn't "profit" from them?....i.e doesn't make even enough money to cover the costs of the original products or even makes zero dollars?
Of course it is still illegal, but it seems like everyone's defense revolves around "if you make money off of a product than you should pay for it"..
I personally feel that pirating is wrong in ALL cases. However, I couldn't care less if someone pirated it, and profited in NO way.
Piracy aside, I do think it's interesting to see Adobe going this way, and I don't think it will pay off. At a time when Apple is enabling developers with it's App store to be able to charge less for apps, but earn more money with a higher volume of downloads. Not to mention the customer gets some amazing benefits by using the app store: integration with the os (think Launchpad), easy updates, multiple licenses across a users account, use of itunes account to make purchases, etc
Seems like Adobe is just BEGGING for developers to take away their business. It's already happening with pixelmator, aperature, etc doing 80% of what adobe does, but at fraction of the cost.
I give it one more year, and Adobe's products will be entirely replaceable by App store Apps that will be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Developers will be making their money, the apps will be cheap enough that piracy won't be as big of an issue, and everyone will be happy (except Adobe....and those heavily invested into their software model, and business).

Don't worry about it. The guys who can't afford to pay for it and pirate it are usually the folks who just want to "hoard" it rather than use it. If they had any talent to begin with, they'd be making enough money with the tool where the cost of it would be meaningless anyway. ;)
I can't count the number of people I've met whose livelihoods are made as graphic artists or photographers and are using pirated software. Hard for me to see any justification in that...

Try www.milo.com, that should help you locate one in your area.
Milo helped me find 2 iPads at a Best Buy in my local area. Unfortunately, the site has shown 'sold out' everywhere for the last few days.

While you're at it why not steal car if you can't pay for it? Or go to your local store and swipe an iPhone because you can't afford it? Sounds reasonable then I'm sure.
Also, while I'd love cheaper pricing, they are basing their pricing off of economic considerations from their home country and pricing their software accordingly. And it always cracks me to hear "no one will starve they makes lots of money!" well they have to in order to keep making new software!

When you look at Steve Job's odyssey from being Apple's CEO, bringing in Sculley, getting stabbed in the back and booted from his own company.
Jobs goes off on his own, founds Next computer, develops innovative hardware, makes alliances with the likes of George Lucas, founds Pixar and comes up with hit movie after hit movie.
Meanwhile Apple goes through the dark ages, predictions of Apple going belly up, they beg Steve Jobs to come back to the helm.
Jobs returns to Apple, gets to work and turns the company around with some of the most inspiring products (iMac) and great market presence.
Then his team comes up with the marvelous iPod. The Macintosh lineup is arguable the best in the PC world.
Things would have been much less interesting if Steve didn't have to make this difficult trek. Sometimes what looks bad can be the beginning of something great if you don't give up.
That is sooooo true. Without Jobs, apple would be in the *******.

The exploit is apparently in the device driver, and so its more of an issue with Atheros than with Apple. I mean, a vulnerability is a vulnerability, and it still needs to be fixed, but the compromised code is most likely not Apple's at least.

they demanded that he cut the price of his vacuums by 30% and that he downgrades the build quality so they would break down more often thus forcing people to buy more
Wow. I always figured this was the stuff of conspiracy theorists and urban legends (e.g. "Who Killed the Electric Car" etc).
However, it would sure explain a lot of the crap that's out there in the markets these days. Flimsy plastic junk...

My wife said no too and this even includes my wish for one for my upcoming bday to get one.
Your wife said 'no'?
You know, this is a question that I've been wanting to ask for a long time, and this is not directed only at you, but to all responses similar to yours I've seen on such topics. It's an honest question I have, because it just blows my mind:
What the hell kind of relationship do you people have with your spouses?? I mean, seriously??! You need their explicit PERMISSION to buy something you want, with your money, and it gets to their point of people BEGGING their wives to let them buy something, only to be turned down?! How the hell do you get yourself into this kind of dynamic? The only plausible reason that a wife may be against it is if you guys are so short on cash, that $500 will break the account and drive you into poverty? And if this is the case, then you people should have a bit more responsibility than to beg your wives to let you buy something that you clearly can't afford. If you CAN afford it, and it is your $$, then why the hell do you even need to ask your wife in the 1st place, and what right does she have to refuse you? Do your wives make all the money? An iPad isn't a car or a house that needs to be a consensual and debated purchase. Your wife shouldn't have the ability (nor the desire) to stop you from buying one.
This is honestly something that Id like an answer to. Some of you seem to have a 'child/parent' relationship, instead of husband/wife. If she's the breadwinner of the house, and you mooch of her, fine I'd understand. But if you bring in the $$? Sounds like a disturbing and cold relationship. Why does she get to dominate you and dictate your decisions, void of any debate or discussion?

I wouldn't be shocked if WalMart were telling studios don't sell to Apple. The ethics of Walmart have never been in question: they don't have any.
The thing that sticks out in this article, if it's true and it is the Post so...., is that Apple is paying $4.51 more for a movie than it can sell it for. Does this make any sense? The iTunes Store is not like Walmart where you can pick up prepackaged meat, cookies and Preparation H while you're getting a movie. Is it because Steve makes money either way? I would think the idea of selling movies is to make a profit on them. And if Walmart is ALWAYS the low price does that mean new movies will be less than iTunes?
Also, if this story is true I wonder how well Walmart will fare in receiving their shipments of new iPods for Xmas. I saw them at Target yesterday. I wonder if Walmart's got any yet.
