she has the most enviously beautiful hair in Hollywood (although we don’t see much of it in these pictures), and what makes me even more jealous is that it appears to be all hers.

Anyway, on to the outfit. Kate picked a mod-inspired white Versace cocktail dress to wear to the premiere of her new movie Going the Distance, and she accentuated the dress’s 60s reference with a flipped ponytail and a bit of height at the front part of her ‘do. I wish she would have accessorized a little more creatively – her black shoes are serviceable but boring, as is her black Armani clutch. She almost always looks fantastic, but her look here is merely good.

Brooke Shields is known for having luxurious, shiny, wonderful hair (and also great eyebrows, although that has nothing to do with this post), but I wish she had put it up or back or something for the 2010 Costume Institute Gala. It’s covering up her pretty dress! I want to see neckline and structure and all of those great things!

You would have think that Michael Kors, her date and the designer of her dress, would have made sure that she was properly styled for the event. After all, we know that he’s not afraid to tell you how he feels – he critiques styling professionally on Project Runway and seems to have absolutely no problem telling someone that they screwed up on TV. Couldn’t he have at least convinced Shields to put her hair in a last-minute ponytail?
