Victoria Beckham with a very posh, very giant Hermes Kelly

Victoria Beckham with a very posh, very giant Hermes Kelly

Have you guys ever read or seen any interview with Victoria Beckham? If you haven’t, it’s worth a google, because she’s way funnier and more personable than you’d ever expect her to be, based on pictures. Yes, she knows that she never smiles. She knows she looks like a miserable cow. She just doesn’t like her smile in pictures, which is something I can understand, because I never smile in pictures either. So lay off of VB.

Anyway, Vicki loves bags, we all know that, and here she is with one of the most ginormous ones I’ve ever seen her carry. It’s an Hermes Travel Kelly, and at 50 centimeters wide, that’s one enormous bag. On someone with such a slight frame, it looks even larger, and she may indeed have stored a couple of the kids in there to save on airfare. It looks like she has kept the leather spectacularly clean, though, but you’d expect nothing less from someone that always looks so immaculate.

Salvatore Ferragamo launches the W Bag

Salvatore Ferragamo launches the W Bag

With hundreds of events happening for Fashion Night Out this year, we decided against saturating our website with every single event. Actually, we didn’t even cover one. But that changes now and it is because I absolutely positively love the bag that is being launched. Ferragamo does FNO properly by giving us a fantastic bag to remember their event by.

To celebrate new Creative Director, Massimiliano Giornetti’s first womenswear collection, Salvatore Ferragamo is launching the W Bag. The W bag is named for the House’s matriarch, Mrs. Wanda Ferragamo, and was originally designed in the seventies by her daughter Fiamma.

Friday night at Ferragamo will focus on the signature W bag. Hosts will include Alek Wek, Ashley Wick, Elettra Wiedemann and Caroline Winbergalong. Also, Vogue editors Lauren Santo Domingo and Valerie Boster will be joining to celebrate the bag. A percentage of the evening’s sales will benefit the Whitney Museum of American Art.

The details above needed to be included, but I am back focusing on the bag itself. This bag is worth covering and I think that is easy to see. There is a very equestrian feel paired with ladylike lines. Being Ferragamo, I do not question the luxuriousness of the W Bag. I covet the W Bag. And when I heard guests at the event will be able to customize the W bag, I got green with envy (kind of like the color green in the W bag attached – beautiful, right?!). The focus of this post is the bag, and I am sure there will be many W Bag posts to come on PurseBlog. Prices range around $1650 for the smaller to $1850 for the larger.

The now infamous Missoni Chicken Foot Bag

The now infamous Missoni Chicken Foot Bag

For all of you who watched The Rachel Zoe Project last week, this bag will ring a bell. Behold, the Missoni Chicken Foot Bag that Rachel made a very sour face at while in the Missoni showroom. I was on a personal mission to find the bag and make fun of it myself. I figured it would be ghastly and almost disturbing to look at.

But a funny thing happened. Once I saw the bag I found it, well, somewhat intriguing.

There is this odd mixture of materials and textures and colors which somehow partially works. You look at the bag and realize it is perfectly Missoni. If you study the front pocket, you can see the chicken feet being used, but if you have the ability to keep yourself from focusing on that aspect, you might find yourself enjoying the quirkiness of the bag as well.

Ok, so this bag is a massive mish-mosh of colors and ideas. And while I called it quirky many will call it tacky. But on some level, it kind of, sort of, partially, maybe, possibly works. I think most of me gives this bag lots of leeway because it is far less awful than I imagined it would be. It may not be for 98.9% of us, but I can imagine a fashionable woman who takes chances with her accessories wearing this outside of Paris fashion week. I want to see someone carry this bag.
