Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam has long been adored by tourists for its lax treatment of marijuana in designated zones. Travelers must be careful not to overstep their bounds however, as Amsterdam is not a drug free-for-all, and the country does enforce punishments for other drug-related crimes. Travel guide website TheSite.org makes clear that Amsterdam distinguishes between “hard” and “soft” drugs, and while you are pretty much free to smoke in public or in “coffee” shops, the possession or sale of other drugs (such as cocaine or heroin) is still absolutely illegal and will land you in trouble with the law. Additionally, shops may not legally advertise the sale of marijuana, and thus tourists are left to hunt down their high if they desire. READ MORE (Other Countries)
