From Trashed to Treasured: What to do with your wedding dress after the big day has passed

For all you past, present and future brides out there who aren't yet aware of this wedding craze, you are in for a treat and some great suggestions!!!

There have been a number of mixed reviews on "Trash the Dress" photo sessions. The idea of destroying a family heirloom or a dress that could very well have taken months to find may seem a bit crazy. Our opinion?? Trash it! Splash and sink your toes in the sand with your bridesmaids! Bask yourself in a glittering waterfall! Challenge your inner artist and paint your bodies pink, blue, and orange! Whatever you do make it fun and make it your own! For the avid beach goer who opted for a church wedding or the bride whose hopes for an outdoor wedding were ruined due to unexpected weather, grab your mate and take some shots at your favorite water locale. Perhaps your first date was at a fair? Pictures of you running around in your dress, kicking up dirt, and eating a messy hot dog are sure to make a lasting memory, as well as turn a few heads! Love to paint or draw? Check out the amazing photo we found below! What a fun way to express your creativity and love for each other! Even something as simple as diving into your swimming pool can make for some amazing underwater shots. With a multitude of outrageous locations at their fingertips, couples are in no short supply of finding the perfect spot to create unique and memorable photos. Whatever the reason, what a fantastic way to spice up your wedding photos and create some amazing memories!

For those brides who still aren't convinced but are looking for alternative things to do with your dress after your big day, there are a plethora of wonderful options. You could give it to a friend or family member and make it something borrowed, donate your dress to a charitable organization like the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation who uses proceeds from selling wedding gowns to support women diagnosed with breast cancer, or retool it into a christening or communion dress, a baby blanket, a quilt, throw pillows, potpourri sachets, or a wedding day photo frame. Whatever you choose have fun with it and make it special!
