What does this mean?
http://www.macnn.com/blogs/?p=97
On August 22, the European Office of Harmonization published Apples latest trademark/service mark application number 005269221 for IMOVIE. The European filing was prepared by Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP of London which notes no priority filing. However, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office officially lists Apples iMovie as a registered trademark under application number 2,723, 051 dating back to July 2003 in addition application number 75/782,838 officially registered in China dating back to August 1999. So whats changed?
The difference in this new filing in contrast to Apples original filing is that the original filing only listed International Class 9 covering computer hardware and software whereas the new European filing lists additional International Classes 38, 41 and 42 which cover the following: communications and telecommunications services, entertainment and education services; provision of electronic publications (not downloadable); providing on-line electronic publications and computer hardware and software consulting services; rental of computer hardware and software apparatus and equipment.

Does this fix the graphical glitches? Like the apps not opening smoothly? I swear iOS 4.3 feels jumpy and unpolished compared to 4.2.1.

I'm really excited for the new features, many of which sound great, but I wonder why they couldn't just implement them into the current FCP interface? I'm a heavy Final Cut Pro user and really fast with the current application. I hate to have to learn an entirely new interface.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of the technology personally. It's FACTUALLY an integrated part of the web these days. It needs support on iPhone. Period.
Damn right it does! I wish Adobe would get off their butts and make one for the iPhone that Apple could approve. Until then, we're all out of luck.

Proof? Or did you just make that up?
It is common knowledge of anyone that has been exposed to both.

Hum this is brilliant marketing.
The subscription price serves as an anchor price that makes you feel the regular price is cheaper, hence more buying are expected at regular price.

1. Engadget are very reliable IMO.
2. This furthers the estimation that the next iPod will have an OLED display. You really can't read an eBook normally on an LCD display, cause your eyes will hurt and the battery will die afte 2 chapters.

Waited at Best Buy an hour before they opened to get one, even after reading a few messages in this thread about it only being reservations (call it dumb optimism). Unfortunately, same situation with reservations. Went to the Apple Store and they had ~16 iPads in the configuration I wanted (16GB WiFi, 6 black and 10 white). Should have just tried the Apple Store first.

I'm not sure many would agree with you on that. Apple has always been a hardware company. Just because their software drives their hardware doesn't mean they are software focused. If they were primarily a software company, they would have gone the way of Microsoft and put out MacOS to run on any generic PC box. But we all know their take on that. Just to drive my point home, when was the last time Apple released a piece of software that people went nuts about and stood in lines for hours to get?
There's an old saying, " What good is the hardware without the software?" ;)

To all those cutting military by huge percentages, what are your plans to deal with the millions of unemployed that would produce?
I'd move a lot of the defense spending to NASA, renewable energy, infrastructure projects, and job training. The first three can employ a lot of the engineers that are put out of work, and the job training helps the rest be prepared for new more useful jobs.

"If we're completely wrong and you completely screw up the entire music market for Mac owners, the sandbox is small enough that you really won't damage the overall music industry very much."
So, I take this to mean that having iTunes on PC is what's holding up the iTunes movie store from getting the major studios. This quote seems to be code for "the studios are terrified we're not going to get this right".
Which, of course, they're aren't if "right" means uncrackable for the next millennium, which the studios want because they're afraid of the boogieman (who is imaginary) instead of realizing there's profit to be had in them thar bits.

jobs quote:
"money is not everything".
Has his recent illness has made him more humble and wise ?
To be fair, the exact quote if i can recall was "money isn't everything in R&D". meaning, we can give you a better OS with less money than Microsoft.

Usually one person will get in a tank and if he is able to take out the other tank theres no real way to stop them.
4 or 5 Sniper shots will destroy a tank. 2 or 3 if you are precise and can hit either the driver compartment, or the exhaust vent. Just FYI.
But also, you will only have to deal with that for a about another week. The October update to playlists and maps is coming next week, and the Tank is being swapped for a Wraith, along with a host of other fixes and tweaks that people have noticed in this first couple weeks of playing.

300-600 mb over the air?
They'd have to change the updates to be actual updates, rather than the "install the entire OS again" approach we have now.

This sounds like a new feature for iOS 5. I'm surprised that nothing has leaked out in regards to what iOS 5 has to offer. The rumor is it's supposed to be a major revamp of the OS, but I am really excited to see it in about a month.

I was excited to see that blood gulch had be remade but after playing it a few times i have to say its one of my least favourite maps. There are too many vehicles and not enough vehicles killing weapons. Usually one person will get in a tank and if he is able to take out the other tank theres no real way to stop them. Particularly if they just sit up the back taking long shots leaving you no real chance to get close. Bungie needed to put a spartan laser on the map somewhere.

I'd rather live in a white trash trailer park than in a black ghetto.
Why is that? I would see both options as equally lousy.

Well, this is one of those areas where we disagree on the historical evidence and the interpretation. I don't see evidence in the old testament that would support the view that it was written to support polytheism or that it was a re-writing of polytheistic accounts with the goal of popularizing monotheism. The god El was the chief of the elohim in Canaan. He is mentioned by name in the Old Testament. Several kings and patriarchs named their sons after him. The "War in Heaven", of course, is the "historical" account of El casting down all the other gods, and establishing his own primacy. The other elohim were retained in the form of angels. Notice how many angels' names end in "-el"?
Sure, there is description of the polytheistic cultures of the Canaanite people, the Egyptians, and other people of that time, but the overarching story of God's revelation to man is unified starting with God's establishment of the covenant with Abraham. El's covenant with Abraham.
Now, God's people were not always faithful to him. In fact the entire story of the nation of Israel is one of God attempting to unify his chosen people and their repeated failure to be consistently true to him. Even King Solomon who built the temple, fell away later in life, as he become open to idol worship.Revisionism. The story of the Old Testament is a story of a couple of polytheistic nations. The prophets are constantly bemoaning the polytheism of the people. Those which did not bemoan it were presumably not included in the canon.
You must remember that the Bible reveals God to be triune, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The "mystery" of the trinity has been debated, but scripture both, old and new testament, point to this fact and thus there are times when the original languages are in singular tense and there are also times when the original languages are in plural tense. This is not true. There is no specific assertion in the Old Testament of any triune nature of god. Of course, when El casts Baal out of heaven and he becomes Satan, he is banishing his own son, leaving the stage conveniently clear for You-Know-Who...
