Hyundai cutting production of Santa Fe

Hyundai will reduce production output of its US-made Santa Fe, as the automaker reported a 10.6 percent drop in net profit in the second quarter. Manufactured in Hyundai's Montgomery, Alabama plant, the Santa Fe has seen decreased sales due to escalating fuel prices. Hyundai told the Wall Street Journal that it will cut the Santa Fe production by 40,000 units.

Hyundai has already cut production of the Santa Fe over the last several months, and increased the output of the Sonata sedan. Thus, Hyundai will not be forced to cut workers or shifts due to the switch.
