Do you know what a computer without drivers is? A paperweight. The OS is not a single monolithic thing; it's made up of many components. The notion of what is "written into the OS" is more complicated than you seem to think, and it's childish to dismiss a vulnerability because it's in a driver.
Actually it's the smug attitude of so many Mac owners that makes them such satisfying targets. You reap what you sow. I've been using Macs since 1984 (and PCs about as long) and Mac users get on my nerves sometimes.
"Make believe" Mac supporters get on my nerves ALL the time. I doubt many of the readers here need to be schooled about the services device drivers provide. When I read the post you criticized, my impression was the author was simply stating that Apple did not write the driver. You seem to want to focus the blame on Apple. So, what is your agenda? Are you just here to bust on Apple?

Not sure if anyone noticed yet, but there are a ton of new visualizer effects i've never seen before, and the visualizer runs at native res when in fullscreen.

I have read that. But sorry, they aren't losing iPad holiday sales due to the iPad x+1 coming the next spring. Most people aren't that in tune, and when they get xmas gifts, they're happy to have a $500-700 gift, they're not worried that it will upgraded in a few months. The display doubling is not realistic nor is it necessary for 2011. Apple has already jumped ahead of the Android market with the iPad 2 and will keep a comfy lead this year. Look at how hard it is to get one. They haven't even been able to ship internationally yet. And they are still weeks out on US orders. They won't be coming out with a Pro, HD 2.5 or 3.0 iPad this year.
Having an April release cycle make fine sense for them.

Even though iTunes says that 5g ipods are up to date software version 1.2 is in there...
You must restore the ipod and it will restore using software update 1.2
note that this does NOT give search function, but it does provide compatability for games and the newly released 640x480 movies/videos

24"=$600
30"=$1000
They could always fill the $2k dispay spot with a 50", HDTV Capable display that supported 20 million pixles :D
Would be nice to see those prices, but not in the next 3 years lol.

Just how in God's name is this a threat to them?! Wal-Mart's smartest move would be to drop their DVD prices by that buck or two, until they cost the SAME or LESS than online downloads.

Even with music downloads, I still know plenty of people who never or almost never purchase their music online, they like to have the discs, same thing with movies. Hopefully it will come out within a fortnight otherwise it will be a long wait to MWSF :( I envisage just increased HD and possibly 1GB ram standard if it comes out within the fortnight. But if the C2D Macbook comes out MWSF there better be some decent upgrades! Maybe dedicated graphics card or at least the X3000.

once ipad is launched, millions will buy or check it out online. At the same time, if apple has updated the pros and airs, consumers may also choose to purchase them online.
Apple wants to attract new customers all the time, it will be disappointing to see the line of mac products along with their price if nothing is updated before the ipad launch.

I'm really excited for the new features, many of which sound great, but I wonder why they couldn't just implement them into the current FCP interface? I'm a heavy Final Cut Pro user and really fast with the current application. I hate to have to learn an entirely new interface.
