Hyundai ix35 in High Demand in UK

Here’s a novel way to keep your customers happy, especially if they’re waiting for their new ride to arrive and it’s taking way longer than expected. Over in the UK, Hyundai has come up with a rather interesting plan, one that sees customers waiting for their new ix35 (the Tucson over here) to arrive to get an ix35 in the meantime.

Confusing? Not, once the details become clear. Seems that demand for the ix35 has been unprecedented, not only across Europe but also worldwide, resulting in supply not being able to meet demand, especially so in the case of the 2.0 litre diesel derivative.

So, in what is a unique approach, the UK office has come up with this: 200 of its longest waiting customers who have booked the 2.0 diesel SUVs will be offered a 1.7 litre diesel ix35, of which there is ready stock of. They purchase the manual 1.7, use it until their original 2.0 order arrives, at which point they trade-in the two-wheel drive 1.7 for the same price they paid for it, paying only the difference in the price of the 1.7 and 2.0 diesel versions.

The no-cost implications offer, which runs till the end of the month, also sees Hyundai giving the customer £300 to cover the costs incurred for arranging finance and insurance on two cars instead of one. The company is currently looking at the feasibility of rolling out this offer to other customers.

It’s a great deal for the UK ix35 buyer, so guess that’s one for them then. Don’t expect to be seeing something like this happening here from any car company, certainly not on this scale, if ever.

Fender Custom Shop Jaguar XK-50 Stratocaster - No. 24 of 25 - Nevada Music UK

Uploaded by: NevadaMusicUK

Description: Available here... www.nevadamusic.co.uk In 1995 I had the good fortune to visit the Fender custom shop in California, during the trip I was shown a conceptual artists drawing of a guitar that had been commissioned by The Jaguar Motor Company in collaboration with Fender Musical Instruments. The guitar in question was a Fender Stratocaster, although it was unlike any Stratocaster that I had seen before. The concept was to utilise some of the raw materials that went into making an executive Jaguar car on a Fender Stratocaster. Therefore the body of the guitar was painted British Racing Green, the scratch plate was the same burled walnut that was used on the dashboard of the Jaguar XJS and the position markers on the fret board were inlaid gold leaping jaguars with the actual "Jaguar" logo on the 12th fret. Aside from this, all metal parts were gold plated (pick-up covers, bridge, machine heads, volume and tone knobs, jack insert and selector switch) plus the headstock featured a leaping jaguar emblem in gold and a growling jaguar's head. The fret-board was also in walnut with gold plated frets and the guitar came with both a gig bag and a flight case. The gig-bag was in the same white Connolly leather that is used on the interior of the high end expensive Jaguar cars such as the XKR convertible whilst the flight case was black with silver aluminium trim. The package was completed by a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity provided by Fender and signed by the ...

Hyundai i30 Wins UK Satisfaction Poll

Hyundai i30The Hyundai i30 has been named top car in the ninth annual Driver Power 2010 survey for satisfaction and reliability, as voted for by 23,000 readers of Auto Express. The i30 beat last year's winner, the Jaguar XF, for the top slot, while the Skoda Octavia came third ahead of parent company Volkswagen's new Golf.

Skoda retained its position as best manufacturer overall. The second-generation Toyota Prius was voted number one for both reliability and ease of driving, the Fiat Panda took the honours for low running costs, the recently-replaced Land Rover Discovery was tops for practicality and the Lexus IS beat all the opposition in terms of build quality.

All the manufacturers named above will be happy about this, but there will be some grumbling elsewhere. The Ford Focus had only a middling result, finishing 51st overall, though at least that was better than Vauxhall managed, with its Astra and Corsa (admittedly previous models rather than current ones) propping up the bottom of the table in 99th and 100th positions respectively.

Despite this, Vauxhall was not the lowest-rated manufacturer. That was Peugeot, largely on account of the poor results achieved by the 207 and 307.

Hyundai Adds Edition Models for UK Market

Hyundai is driving into 2010 with a line-up of special edition family cars focussed on offering maximum value for money. Called Edition, the i10, i20 and i30 models boast more style, added equipment and aggressive pricing aimed at stealing a march on rivals.

Starting at £8,425, the i10 Edition stands on 14-inch alloy wheels and has body-coloured door mirrors, body side mouldings and front fog lights as well as remote central locking, air conditioning, electric windows, a height-adjustable drivers' seat and a leather steering wheel and gearknob. With CO2 emissions of 119g/km, the 1.1-litre car qualifies for £35 road tax.

Next up, the 1.2-litre i20 Edition three and five-door cars cost from £10,565 to undercut the cheapest Ford Fiesta by £700 - but still boast half-leather seat trim, air conditioning, electric windows, leather steering wheel and gear knob. Standing on 15-inch alloys, they also have front fog lamps, steering wheel audio controls, a CD-radio with Aux and USB connections and remote central locking - luxuries normally found in much more expensive models.

Flagship Edition is the i30, which has an exclusive sporty look from a modified front grille, hexagonal air intake and sculpted fog lamps, plus side skirts and a new rear bumper with twin exhaust trims. Priced from £13,400, this model is claimed to be over £4,000 cheaper than an entry-level Ford Focus even though it has 16-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, sports pedals, a chrome-finished gear knob, electric windows, remote central locking, electric heated door mirrors and a six-speaker stereo-radio CD player with Aux and USB connections and steering wheel audio controls.

Like all i30 models, the Edition has a choice of ESP as standard, along with active front head restraints and six airbags. Engine choices are 1.4 or 1.6-litre petrol or a .6-litre CRDi diesel, and stop-start is a £200 option.
