My case is in background check a.k.a extended review. I tried all the means without any success. Infopass, Ombudsman and senator told me that there is no time limit for these kind of cases. Few unlucky cases gets stuck in this and yes the wait will be very painful if you wait. Best thing is followup every 3 months or so and only think about it on the day or two you followed up.
On the other hand I heard about about few cases where USCIS has told that the application is in extended review but issued the card within a month or so. So I think sometimes they just say that to reduce the enquires temporarily and I hope yours is one of those cases.

I am trying to fill the canadian visa application and would like to know what should I check on Question #8
a) citizen( obviously not)
b) Permanent residet
c) Temporary resident
d)Worker

It also asks valid until date(What should I put).I am no longer working on H1B as I am using EAD

My check was cashed on 08/31. Based on the receipt numbers on the back of the check, online status shows that receipts were mailed on 08/31, but I haven't received till date. On 10/01, I called customer service and made them create service request. No progress so far. I am planning to call sometime next week and find the status of the service request.
Is anyone in the similar situation of not receiving the receipts even after check has cashed way back.

Send in whatever you do have available with a letter explaining why there is nothing more that you have available. While I know many do not like hiring attorneys because they are expensive, an attorney would be able to help you with the cover letter to ensure the best possible outcome from the USCIS. I am one of the July 2 filers. I need to go to India on 1st November. I was hoping that AP will come by that time. But there has been no progress on that. Just spoke to my Attorney. She said that USCIS does not have any facility to issue AP for an emergency.
Then I called USCIS. I was told the same thing. The Customer Service representative said - I should go wherever I need to go. On arrival contact the local US Embassy and tell them that you need AP to travel back. They will "guide you".
On this forum I have read about INFOPASS many times. I was hoping to use that facility if I did not get AP in time. I am trying to find out if anybody actually used INFOPASS to meet a local Immigration Officer and got AP on an emergency basis.
No theoretical guesses please.

My luck is just not good w.r.t GC. Afte long wait my spouse finally had received her FP notice and is scheduled for her FP in couple of days. But today she accidently burnt her finger and that too right at the spot where we give the FP.
Guys , any suggestion as to what needs to be done. Should she still try to give the FP and see if it works. She has a big blister on her finger.
Any similar experiences , please post.

Sorry.. I just received the letter received from USCIS.. Its mentioned as "NOTICE TO INTENT TO DENY(NOID)".
The reason specified in the letters:
- Section 203(b)(2)(A)
- 8 C.F.R 204.5(l)(3)(ii)(C)
........
Here is the definition from USCIS regulations (refer to 8 CFR �204.5 (k) (2)) for advanced degree equivalency: "Advanced degree means any United States academic or professional degree or a foreign equivalent degree above that of baccalaureate."
The key word here is degree, i.e., singular degree. That means - the beneficiary must have �a degree�, not a combination of degrees. Combination of degrees, therefore, is not permitted for EB-2 Advanced Degree classification.
I have written many times on this issue, please refer to my old posts for more details.
