While attempting to focus my thoughts on a sports related blog topic I found it difficult to choose one specific sport, city, team or player. This is probably because the teams that I support in the four major American sports (NFL, MLB, NBA and College Football… I don't consider Hockey to be a major American sport anymore) are in fact somewhat RANDOM. I'll explain…

The Vikings: When I first got into football I went with a family favorite. I found out my grandfather was a Vikings fan, hated Brett Favre and the Packers, coincidentally so did I... See Addicted To Fantasy Post.

The Knicks --> Nets: Growing up in North Jersey in the 90's I was a huge supporter of the NY Knickerbockers. Not only was Madison Square Garden the coolest place on Earth to visit as a kid but the team was awesome. The season Patrick Ewing left and the organization offered Allan Houston a 10-year contract extension was the downfall of bball in the big city in my opinion, it was also the season I took an interest in a team much closer to home. The NETS games were never sold out and cheap as hell when I first became a fan of the cellar-dweller franchise. When you're in high school cheap tickets to see a professional basketball game are a gift from God. The following years brought more gifts from God, the acquisition and re-emergence of Jason Kidd, an Eastern Conference title and the ownership of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z.

Yankees/Phillies: This one is easy. The Yankees will always be my team; they are the definition of excellence in professional sports, an organization that lesser organizations are compared to worldwide. Nuff said. In the spirit of multi-league partisanship in my baseball fandom, I'm also a Phillies Phan! Here is where the haters will call me a bandwagon supporter because the year I move to Philly, they win the World Series and suddenly it becomes well known that I like the team. However, I've been a fan of the fightins since about 2003 when I first moved to the Philadelphia region for school. Tickets to the new Citizens Bank Park, to see the perennial 2nd place Phils, were just cheap enough to make a few games on a broke college student's budget. They ARE my NL team...

USC Trojans: I don't really follow College Football, but when I do, I follow the USC Trojans. I lived in LA for a year and a half and driving past the Coliseum on game day made my life a living hell, but I loved the spirit of it. The city of dreams really needs a professional franchise other than the Basketball Kobes and Clippers. The closest thing they will get for now is a college team that exudes a professional quality, something that is rare among most Division 1 college football programs. Sure, they all have tv contracts and big name coaches, players, etc… But the USC Trojans demand excellence and I can appreciate that. 'Fight on and win For ol' SC , Fight on to victory , Fight on!'
