Random The Edge

I LOVE the movie The Edge...

People love to talk about movies they always stay on while flipping through channels; mine is definitely The Edge. I've seen it a million times and it never gets old. The Anthony Hopkins character might be the biggest badass ever... Especially in this scene...

"What one man can do, another can do!"

(from Wiki)
The Edge is a 1997 film drama directed by Lee Tamahori, starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. Harold Perrineau and Elle Macpherson co-star. L. Q. Jones also has a supporting role as an innkeeper. Bart the Bear, a trained Kodiak Bear known for appearances in several Hollywood movies, appears as a vicious grizzly; this was one of his last film roles. The film was written by David Mamet, and despite the unusual setting it touches upon many themes common to Mamet's other works including, the bonding of strong male characters, tough posturings and playful surprises. The story explores, through action and intricate dialog, the survival instincts of these men in terms of their competition with each other and with their environment. READ MORE

Random End Of Days?

When it finally happens, I imagine the Apocalypse will look something like this...

Sadly, these are real pictures of something that just happened...

Hopefully this isn't the beginning of the end. I got shit to do!

(from MailOnline)
When all hell breaks loose: Lightning tears the sky apart above the glow of the Chilean volcano
Flames reach up to the heavens as lightning flashes criss-cross the sky. These extraordinary images show the full force of Mother Nature as a Chilean volcano erupts for the first time in 50 years. Ash has been thrown six miles up into the sky and the South American government has ordered the evacuation of thousands of residents. Winds fanned the ash toward neighbouring Argentina, darkening the sky in the ski resort city of San Carlos de Bariloche, in the centre of the country, and its airport has also been closed. The eruption in the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcanic chain, about 575 miles south of the capital, Santiago, also prompted authorities to close a busy border crossing into Argentina. It was not immediately clear which of the chain's four volcanoes had erupted because of ash cover and weather conditions. The chain last saw a major eruption in 1960.

Random Zombie Apocalypse

Hmm, so people really are taking this whole May 21st thing seriously?...

I mean, that's gotta be why a government organization like the CDC would be focusing on impending zombie attacks, right??!?

(from foxnews) <-- Didn't intentionally go here
CDC Warns Public to Prepare for 'Zombie Apocalypse'
Are you prepared for the impending zombie invasion? That's the question posed by the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention in a Monday blog posting gruesomely titled, "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse." And while it's no joke, CDC officials say it's all about emergency preparation. "There are all kinds of emergencies out there that we can prepare for," the posting reads. "Take a zombie apocalypse for example. That's right, I said z-o-m-b-i-e a-p-o-c-a-l-y-p-s-e. You may laugh now, but when it happens you'll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you'll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency." The post, written by Assistant Surgeon General Ali Khan, instructs readers how to prepare for "flesh-eating zombies" much like how they appeared in Hollywood hits like "Night of the Living Dead" and video games like Resident Evil. Perhaps surprisingly, the same steps you'd take in preparation for an onslaught of ravenous monsters are similar to those suggested in advance of a hurricane or pandemic. READ MORE

I'm also a bit confused how the white team can win Pole Battle, since the only inevitable outcome seems to be ripped shirts and blue team domination.

Soccer fans take boy to 'watch' his favourite team... even though he's dead and in a coffin
A young soccer fanatic was gunned down on the eve of a big match as he played football in a park. But his friends decided not to let a simple thing like murder get in the way of his plans and took him to 'watch' his favourite team anyway. Random Crysis 2

Aside from the music, this video is fantastic...

Might have to get this one

(from Wiki)
Crysis 2 is a science fiction first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, that was released on March 22, 2011. It is the sequel to the 2007 video game Crysis and its parallel expansion game, Crysis Warhead. The story was written by author Richard Morgan. Another science fiction author, Peter Watts, was also consulted and wrote a novel adaptation of the game. It will be the first game to showcase the CryEngine 3 game engine. The first world review of the game was published by Official Xbox Magazine, which gave the game a 9/10. According to the magazine, it was the multiplayer that tipped the balance. It describes the online experience as "some of the most exciting, angry and satisfying action you'll ever have". The sheer spectacle of the single player campaign also left OXM impressed, and the magazine said the game's Nanosuit "is both massively empowering and intelligently balanced by the need to manage its energy levels". Random Gadget Drought

One thing getting lost in the devastation of the Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami...

The Japanese are responsible for making and developing most of the world's new technologies. This earthquake could possibly set the world on a different technological course. This'll be interesting...

(from Engadget)
Japanese quake will likely affect the global supply of gadgets
As a tech publication, we're obviously focused on the impact recent events will have on Japan's vast consumer electronics industry -- an industry that has responded with millions of dollars in cash, equipment and services to help with the relief effort. Thus far, Canon, Panasonic, and Sony have each pledged ¥300 million ($3.67 million) in donations. Sony is also matching employee contributions as will Mitsubishi who's donating a whopping ¥500 million ($6.1 million) in aid. On the equipment side, Sony is donating some 30,000 radios to relief efforts while Panasonic is providing 10,000 radios, 10,000 flashlights, and 500,000 batteries. NEC, Kyocera, and Epson are each donating ¥100 million in funds, computers, and telecoms and IT equipment. While it's still too early to quantify the exact impact the earthquake, tsunami, and ongoing nuclear troubles will have on the global tech industry, the scope of the issues is becoming clearer now that the initial chaos has passed. The tsunami that followed the 8.9-magnitude earthquake wreaked havoc along a huge stretch of Japan's north-east coast, sweeping far inland and devastating a number of towns and villages. Powerful aftershocks are continuing to hit the region.

Random Bridge Jump

Seems like a story from the movie The Bridge...

A guy tells a story about being knocked unconscious when he hit the water and only survived because dolphins circled his body to keep him afloat. I wonder if the dolphins mobilized for this kid...

(from NBCBayArea)
Student Survives Jump From Golden Gate Bridge
A field trip that included a walk along the Golden Gate Bridge ended with a student jumping off the bridge Thursday morning. The unnamed student survived and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was reportedly being treated for injuries "including a broken tailbone and torn lung." The boy's only complaint was soreness and some bruising. Witnesses said surfers came to his rescue and helped him to shore. CBS 5 reporter Joe Vazquez tweeted that the jump was not a suicide attempt, but instead was done on a dare by fellow students. Vazquez spoke to a surfer who said the classmates were cheering the boy as he jumped.

Random Bear Attack

Ever thought "how would I survive a bear attack?"...

(from MotherNatureNetwork)
How to survive a bear attack
Bears don't want to attack people. We kill them far more often than they kill us, and many bears seem well aware of that ratio. When they do attack, it's usually because they were either starved or startled. But despite their hesitance, bear attacks are on the rise in many parts of the world. Yellowstone National Park saw human-bear conflicts spike in 2008 and 2010 — with experts warning 2011 could be even worse — and officials are grappling with similar problems in Japan, Russia and elsewhere. The ursine violence has been linked to a variety of factors, including habitat loss, human intrusion, food shortages and even climate change. Bear behavior is still heavily influenced by biology and upbringing, too: American black bears are relatively docile and skittish, for example, while polar bears are more aggressive and more likely to see people as prey. Yet trying to fully explain any bear attack is a daunting task, and since we can't convey our peaceful intentions to bears, it's generally safer to just stay away.
